Taiwo Awoniyi missed a crucial 12 games for Nottingham Forest in the 2023-24 English Premier League campaign due to injury
Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, has clinched the record of the player with the highest shot-conversion rate in the English Premier League since last season, as per Soccernet.ng.
Despite netting 16 goals since the previous season’s commencement, Awoniyi snatched the English Premier League record for shot conversion from Erling Haaland, who boasts a higher tally of 52 goals.
According to a recent report by SkySports, the Nigerian international boasts a remarkable 28.6% shot conversion rate, surpassing Manchester City’s Haaland (26.1%), Hee-Chan Hwang (24.1%), Callum Wilson (24%), Diogo Jota (22.5%), and Ivan Toney (21.4%).
Awoniyi faced injury setbacks, causing him to miss 12 games for Nottingham Forest recently, and he also missed out on representing Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations despite being named in the provisional squad.
Returning to action, the former Union Berlin player has bagged two goals in his last five outings for the Reds, including opening the scoring in their crucial 2-0 victory against West Ham United, which helped them steer clear of the relegation zone.
As Nottingham Forest prepares to travel to Villa Park to take on Unai Emery’s Aston Villa in their Matchday 26 Premier League encounter, Awoniyi will be eager to maintain his impressive form.
