Super Eagles team news: Jose Peseiro’s men jet out to Bouake for AFCON semifinal

The three-time champions are making their 16th appearance in the semifinal of the biggest football festival on the continent

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will head to the northern Ivorian town of Bouake where they will prepare for their semifinal clash scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, Soccernet.ng reports.

The team is set to depart Abidjan on Tuesday, marking their first departure from the city since the commencement of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations journey in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan hosted Nigeria’s first game and their second match in the tournament against Equatorial Guinea and hosts Cote d’Ivoire, respectively.

However, the Super Eagles found their winning rhythm at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, claiming victories against Guinea-Bissau, Cameroon in the Round of 16, and Angola in the quarterfinals.

Leaving the comfort of Abidjan, the team will travel approximately 343 km to Bouake, where they will await the outcome of tonight’s clash between Cape Verde and South Africa at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro.

The victor of this match will advance to face Nigeria in the semifinal.

Nigeria’s quarterfinal triumph over Angola with a 1-0 victory on Thursday solidified their spot in the last four of the 2023 AFCON.

South Africa and Cape Verde will battle it out later today to determine who will challenge the Super Eagles in the upcoming semifinal.
