Flying Eagles invitee, Charles Agada nets a hat-trick for Mavlon FC to eliminate Fiorentina from the 2024 Viareggio Cup tournament in Italy, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 17-year-old, has been recently likened to Daniel Amokachi for his speed, skills and power, having garnered the media attention following his impressive performance at the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Agada continued this impressive performance for Mavlon FC with a first strike in the 40th minute, giving Mavlon a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
He followed up with his second goal in the 65th minute, seemingly putting Mavlon in control. However, Fiorentina fought back, narrowing the gap with a goal in the 71st minute.
As the match intensified, Fiorentina managed to level the score in the 90th minute, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
With both teams poised for extra time, Agada, displaying his clutch ability, netted the winning goal just two minutes into stoppage time, securing Mavlon FC’s spot in the quarter-finals.
Agada, serving as captain of his team, has been a standout performer throughout the tournament, tallying an impressive seven goals in four games.
His remarkable goal-scoring exploits have positioned him as the leading scorer in this year’s Viareggio Cup edition.
