The Partenopeans have been in poor form this season, and Aurelio De Laurentiis is desperate to stem the tide
Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona has been appointed the new Napoli coach following Walter Mazzarri’s sack on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Napoli have struggled to get results this season. They have fallen off from the club that won the Serie A last season. The club lost coach Luciano Spalletti to the Italian national team, and things have not remained the same since then.
Rudi Garcia took charge of the team during the last summer break, but he had a tough start to the season, and he got replaced by Walter Mazzarri in November last year. Unfortunately, Mazzarri has failed to stem the tide.
The club has struggled since he took over, and they currently sit 9th in the Serie A table, 27 points behind leaders Inter Milan.
In a new development, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the sack of Mazzarri on his Twitter page.

Calzona is currently the coach of the Slovakian national team, but he will be in charge at Napoli till the end of the season. Calzona has already worked at Napoli as an assistant to Mauricio Sarri and Spalletti.
Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen just returned from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and he will be looking to adjust to Calzona’s tactics for the rest of the season.
