AFCON 2023: Nigeria vs Angola – Will Stanley Nwabali be available for quarterfinal clash?

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, was stretchered off the pitch during Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations round-of-16 clash against Cameroon

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been reportedly deemed fit for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal against Angola, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nwabali had been stretchered off the pitch during Nigeria’s round-of-16 clash with Cameroon after an aggressive challenge by Christopher Wooh.

In a video captured by Soccernet.ng, the Nigerian international was observed limping lightly, sparking concerns about his full fitness for the Friday clash.

However, a day later, he was seen back in action, actively participating in training for the quarterfinal against the Palancas Negras.

While reports indicating Nwabali’s availability are yet to be officially confirmed by the Super Eagles’ head coach or the team’s media officer, it is suggested that the 27-year-old is expected to be ready for the showdown against Angola.

This news brings a positive outlook for the Super Eagles and Nigerian football fans, with official confirmation anticipated during the coach’s press conference ahead of the clash.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are determined to secure a victory against Angola, aiming to progress to the semi-finals where they would face either Cape Verde or South Africa.

However, the potential return of the Union Saint-Gillioise-linked goalkeeper adds optimism to the team’s prospects in this crucial AFCON fixture.
