The Chippa United shot-stopper suffered a knock in the round of 16 against Cameroon, but he seems fit enough to man the sticks for Nigeria this Tuesday
The Super Eagles media officer Babafemi Raji has confirmed that Stanley Nwabali is fit enough to make Nigeria’s matchday squad for their quarter-final fixture against Angola on Friday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nwabali has impressed since he replaced Francis Uzoho in the first team. There were fears about the goalkeeping position before the Africa Cup of Nations because of Francis Uzoho’s erratic nature.
However, Nwabali has allayed Nigerians’ fears. Unfortunately, he sustained a slight injury in the round of 16 against Cameroon. There were fears that the Chippa United shot-stopper would not be fit enough for the quarter-finals, but he seems to have recovered just in time.
According to coach Jose Peseiro at the pre-match presser on Thursday, Nwabali would undergo a late fitness test to ascertain his availability against Angola. But hours later, there were videos of the Chippa United man participating in full training.
In a new development per Channels TV, the media officer has revealed that Nwabali is fit enough for the game.
However, it is yet to be ascertained if the 27-year-old shot-stopper will start the game.
