Jose Peseiro played a strong starting lineup against Cameroon, and he has maintained his lineup against Angola
Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali passed a late fitness test and will be part of Nigeria’s starting XI for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash against Angola, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Super Eagles will be looking to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the AFCON when they play Angola at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Friday.
Coach Jose Peseiro has been quite consistent with his starting eleven since the tournament kicked off, preferring a 3-4-3 formation to the 4-4-2 formation, which he is accustomed to.
For the game against Angola, the Portuguese tactician has maintained the same formation, starting the same team that prosecuted the round of 16 against Cameroon.
Nwabali, who was nursing a knock from the game against Cameroon, has been declared fit and will start in goal. Meanwhile, the back three remains unchanged, as William Troost-Ekong captains the team. He is partnered by Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey.
In midfield, Alex Iwobi and Frank Onyeka will dictate the play, while Zaidu Sanusi and Ola Aina will offer support from the left and right.
Then, in attack, Napoli star Victor Osimhen leads the line, and he is flanked by Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman, who scored a brace against Cameroon in the last round.
NIGERIA got the Job Done!.. But it wasn’t the kind of Game that pleases people with the spirit of excellence coursing through them! I’m one of those!
First, the choice of the Team!.. There’s Nothing that Zeidu is doing in the Nigerian Team! If you disagree, check out his Statistics since the beginning of the Competition! Poor initiative, very little percentage of successful passes and interventions, nothing positive! I frankly wonder why he’s in the 25 man squad, talk less of first 11!..
Second, the Coach lacks Technical depth and capacity!.. Sticking to a first 11 without checking their performance in previous outings, and refusing to make changes, even when players are clearly tired, and especially when you have a good Bench, shows the lack of critical thinking on the part of the Coach!.. Then playing for one goal and defending it for 90 minutes isn’t the mark of a good Coach, especially in a Knockout situation!
May God help us!.. AMEN!!
