2024 FIFA U17 WWC: Central African Republic 0-6 Nigeria – Chidi, Moshood excellent as Flamingos soar

The West African giants went on an attacking rampage in Cameroon to place one foot in the third round of the qualifiers

Nigeria's U17 women's national team recorded a massive 6-0 win over their Central African Republic counterparts in the first leg of their second-round qualifier for the 2024 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Harmony Chidi and Shakirat Moshood netted a brace each. At the same time, Prisca Nwachukwu and Edidiong Etim also found the net as the Flamingos ran riot inside the Stade Omnisport Duoala in Cameroon.

Nigeria, who won a bronze medal at the 2022 edition of the World Cup in India, were in the mood for business early in Duoala, and Harmony Chidi got the opener in the fifth minute.

The Central African Republic put up stiff resistance until the 38th minute when Nwachukwu Prisca doubled the Flamingos' advantage.

There was still time for Moshood and Chidi to fire in quick succession as Nigeria went into the halftime break with a healthy 4-0 lead.

Edidiong netted the fifth goal of the match ten minutes into the second half before Moshood completed the rout with a stunning strike from the free kick spot 30 yards out.

The second leg is in Abuja on Saturday, 10th February, 2024.

The Flamingos, however, have a foot in the third round of the qualifying campaign, where they will potentially face the winner of the clash between Burkina Faso and Guinea.

Three countries will represent Africa at the World Cup to be hosted in the Dominican Republic between October 16 and November 3.
