Daniel Amokachi and Moses Simon share some similarities, and Simon will be looking to reach the heights that Amokachi reached for Nigeria
The Confederation of African Football organised a surprise interview for Super Eagles forward Moses Simon with Ngeria legend Daniel Amokachi, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Super Eagles will take on Cameroon in the round of 16 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny. Both teams did not impress in the group stage, albeit Nigeria were unbeaten, unlike the Elephants, who lost one game.
Ahead of the fixture, CAF organised a surprise interview for Nigerian winger Simon, and Amokachi was the host. Amokachi played for Nigeria between 1990-1999 and won the AFCON in 1994.
Simon was quite delighted at meeting Amokachi, who was nicknamed ‘The Bull’ in his days- because of his power play.
Amokachi then congratulated Simon and the Super Eagles for qualifying for the round of 16. The Nigerian football legend further revealed that he and Simon grew up in Kaduna state, and both of their parents are originally from Benue state.

Simon shared his thoughts and expectations for the game against Cameroon, and he further revealed that Amokachi was one of his favourite players while growing up. The Nantes star even tried to mimic his goal celebration.
Going into the fixture against Cameroon, coach Jose Peseiro has to decide on who to play between Simon and Ademola Lookman. The Nantes star did not impress against Guinea-Bissau in Nigeria’s last game, but he would look to perform better if he gets the opportunity against Cameroon.
