AFCON 2023: “We will employ the same approach”- Moses Simon says ahead of Cameroon clash

The Super Eagles star will have a stern test against Cameroon, but they may not tweak their setup

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon has revealed that the team will approach their game against Cameroon the same way they have approached previous games, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria will lock horns with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday for a place in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. However, this tie will be watered down because of Cameroon’s poor start to the AFCON.

Based on quality, Nigeria are slight favorites because of their quality. But historically, the tie is always a close one.

Nantes star Simon understands the gravity of the game, but he insists that the Super Eagles will approach the fixture just the same they did with their previous games.

“Actually, we will approach the game the same way used to approach other games. And Cameroon, we all know that they are good and strong likewise use,” Simon said per Soccernet.ng.

“Of course, I have a teammate there, I know him. I know his weak point. So, we just take the game the way it is, but our goal is to win.”

In Nigeria’s first three games of the competition, coach Jose Peseiro employed a 3-4-3 formation, but there is a low chance that he will switch his system. The game will take place at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Saturday.
