Victor Osimhen scored twenty-six league goals last term to help Napoli win the Scudetto for the first time in over three decades.
Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has fired a warning message to his teammates ahead of Nigeria’s game against Guinea-Bissau, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen, 25, scored the equalizer for Jose Peseiro’s men in their opening group fixture against Equatorial Guinea, and was instrumental in the win against Ivory Coast at he won the penalty which was properly dispatched by William Troost-Ekong.
The CAF player of the Year award recipient praised his team for a strong performance against Ivory Coast, but urged them to remain focused and to avoid complacency.
“We aim for a strong performance against Guinea-Bissau. They will undoubtedly approach the game with determination, and we won’t underestimate any team, considering what they’ve done to qualify,” the former Wolfsburg striker said in quotes revealed by Sports Ration.
The Napoli striker is weary of the threat the opposition team poses and doesn’t expect an easy clash in their final group game.
“We met them in the qualifiers and know how strong they are. They defeated us at home, while we also beat them away. So, we are expecting a tough game against them. We will do our best to win,” the former Lille striker added.
Nigeria are currently second on the AFCON Group A table with four points, behind the Equitoguineans on goal difference. Nigeria will face Guinea-Bissau on Monday.
Hopefully our players are all fine and ready for this season and should not get injured now
