Super Eagles of Nigeria are slated to tackle Equatorial Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau in the coming weeks
Former Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has made a passionate plea for unwavering support from Nigerian football faithfuls ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations campaign, Soccernet.ng reports.
The tournament, slated to begin in less than two weeks, will witness Nigeria facing Equatorial Guinea, AFCON 2023 host, Côte d’Ivoire, and Guinea-Bissau during the group stage.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria has not been impressive in their recent matches, but the Technical Director for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has urged fans to rally behind the squad as they gear up for the competition.
In a New Year message on his Instagram page, Eguavoen specifically called upon Nigerian football fans to fully support the Super Eagles in hopes of seeing an impressive display during the tournament.
“Happy New Year, everyone and especially to my Nigerian family; as we embark on yet another AFCON, let’s give the Super Eagles all the support they need to triumph. As the saying goes, Naija no dèy Kari Last,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, as preparations for AFCON 2023 commence, the Super Eagles are set to commence training in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, starting Tuesday.
Chief Eguavon i hope this is the best time to show us what you and boy have learned from previous Afcon mistake.U and your boys started very well in that compition and lifed the spirit of Nigeria soccer lovers to believe that u your boys will come home with the trophy but u and your boys run out of ideas in the second round and allowed Tunisia free kick to punish u and Nigeria.
