Kaduna-born Sadiq Umar got a signed shirt from Real Madrid legend, Sergio Ramos after scoring a world-beater against Sevilla last weekend in the league.
Former Borussia Dortmund and Super Eagles defensive midfielder, Sunday Oliseh has heaped praise on Sadiq Umar after the striker scored a stunner in Real Sociedad’s 1-1 draw against Osasuna, Soccernet.ng reports.
The goal is Umar’s second in the league this season, after scoring a scorcher against Sevilla last weekend, and has garnered praise from the Olympic gold medallist.
The 26-year-old suffered an ACL injury to his left knee at the start of last season, as he was brought in by La Real to replace Alexander Isak, who in turn, moved to Newcastle.
The former Roma forward had a poor start to the season, failing to find the back of the net in thirteen trials, but since then, has scored two long-range strikes, in back-to-back games too.
Reacting to the goal, posted by BBC Sports presenter, Mimi Fawaz, Oliseh described Sadiq’s stunner from twenty-five yards as a top-class
Strikers could learn from his First touch. Top class!
Totally agree Mimi! https://t.co/RAtWaPqPwl— Sunday Oliseh (@SundayOOliseh) December 3, 2023
The Super Eagles striker looks to have found his form at the vital time, as he looks to be included in Jose Peseiro’s list of strikers to feature at the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
Nigerians are also happy to see another striker in Europe finding his feet, following the groin injury Taiwo Awoniyi suffered. With Sadiq in form, he might just be the man to take the place of the Nottingham Forest striker.
