Osimhen has been Cagliari’s nemesis in recent years, and he continued with his form when they visited the Diego Maradona Stadium on Saturday
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored and nicked an assist for Napoli in their 2-1 win over Cagliari at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen was on the scoresheet in midweek, when Napoli beat Braga 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League. And he returned to the starting lineup when the Partenopeans welcomed Cagliari to the Diego Armanado Maradona Stadium.
Osimhen had a great record against the Islanders, and he was primed to continue with that run. Napoli dominated the first half, but they failed to create many clear-cut chances. Osimhen was quite active, but he could only manage a shot on target and a yellow card after a failed bicycle kick.
The second half was quite better, and Osimhen eventually put Napoli in front after 69 minutes, off and assist from Mario Rui. The Super Eagles striker proved his prowess in aerial situations, as he jumped highest to meet Rui’s cross and sent a powerful header into Cagliari’s net.

His goal ensured that he became the first Napoli player to score in all of his first four Serie A matches against two different teams in the three points era.
2 – Victor Osimhen is the only Napoli player to score in each of his first four Serie A matches against two different teams, in the three points per win era (since 1994/95): Cagliari and Sampdoria (between 2021 and 2023). Implacable.#NapoliCagliari

However, Napoli’s lead did not last, as Leonardo Scuffet scored the equalizer for Cagliari in the 72nd minute.
Nonetheless, Osimhen produced another moment of magic in the 75th minute dribbling past Cagliari defenders and sending a nice pass to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the box, who finished calmly to make it 2-1.

Osimhen had 82 minutes of action before he was taken off for Gianluca Gaetano. Napoli eventually saw out the 2-1 lead to claim their eighth win of the season.
