Nigerian striker Eduwo helps Tunisia’s Club Africain orchestrate Rivers United’s downfall

The Nigerian striker was caged last time out, but Rivers United failed to keep him at bay in the second fixture

Nigeria striker Kingsley Eduwo registered a brace for Club Africain in their 3-0 bashing of Rivers United in the CAF Confederations Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.

Rivers United beat Club Africain when both teams met last week at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Club Africain bossed the fixture and created a plethora of chances, but they failed to take them.

The Tunisian side welcomed Rivers to the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi. And based on the quality of both sides, Club Africain were the obvious favourites.

The Tunisians had Nigerian striker Eduwo in their ranks, and he did the damage for them. The former Lobi stars man capitalized on a goalkeeping blunder and struck the ball into the net to make it 1-0 for Club Africain.

Rivers United managed to hold their own, but just before halftime, they fell apart again. While trying to play out from the back, Anthony Ohaegbu made a bass pass that landed at the feet of Eduwo, and he just took a few strides forward and placed a nice finish behind Abiodun Akande in Rivers United's goal.

Rami Bedoui then completed the scoring for the Tunisian giants in the 62nd minute. The win takes Club Africain to the top of Group C of the Confederations Cup, while Rivers United have dropped to third place.
