Iwobi and Bassey end 2023 on a high as Fulham upset Arsenal

Iwobi has been a regular for Fulham since he joined, and he was key in their win over Arsenal at Craven Cottage

Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey starred for Fulham in their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Arsenal at Craven Cottage, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigerian stars Bassey and Iwobi were on the starting lineup for Fulham when they welcomed Premier League title contenders Arsenal to Craven Cottage in their final game of 2023.

It was also Bassey and Iwobi's final game before departing for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Unfortunately, the Cottagers had a bad start to the game, with Arsenal scoring the opener courtesy of Bukayo Saka in the 5th minute.

However, Raul Jiminez scored the equalizer for Fulham in the 29th minute. Iwobi was great in the first half, chasing down every ball as Arsenal had the bulk of the possession in the first half.

Both sides ended level at the break, but the Gunners were still favorites to win the game. However, Fulham pulled the chestnut out of the fire 15 minutes into the game.

Despite Arsenal's constant probing, Fulham held their own and won the game 2-1. Iwobi got 72 minutes of action, registering 42 touches, two key passes, two shots, and one interception.

Bassey was superb, registering five clearances, two interceptions, three tackles, and 76 touches.
