Akor Adams was offered to the Ligue 1 club, but they felt he was only good enough for the third tier of French football
Former Coupe de France champions Lorient passed up the opportunity to sign Nigeria striker Akor Adams from Lillestrom last summer, Soccernet.ng.
Adams has been a revelation for Montpellier since he arrived at the club following a €4.5 million transfer from Norwegian side Lillestrom. The 23-year-old had already showed glimpses of what he could offer in Norway last season, registering 17 goals in 17 games.
Nonetheless, a lot of pundits and fans did not expect him to settle in quickly because of the big shift from the a lower league to one of the top five in Europe. Meanwhile, Montpellier would be happy with their decision to believe in Adams, as he already has seven goals after 15 Ligue 1 games. He is also a hardworker on the pitch.
On the other hand, another Ligue 1 club Lorient would be rueing their miss. According to Football Logue, Lorient had the chance to sign Adams, but they refused to push for a deal because the Nigerian forward was only good enough for the French National League.
Meanwhile, Lorient ate struggling badly in the Ligue 1, as they sit second from bottom. None of their strikers has more than one goal this season.
