Victor Osimhen has been linked with a switch to English Premier League with Arsenal and Chelsea set to lock horns for his signature
Former Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has voiced his confidence in the potential success of Victor Osimhen should the Nigerian striker make a move to Stamford Bridge in the upcoming summer transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen, currently plying his trade at Napoli, has emerged as a prime target for top European clubs particularly Chelsea and Arsenal, who are actively seeking reinforcements in their attacking lineup.
In the past, the Nigerian international has openly expressed his admiration for Chelsea icon Didier Drogba, indicating his openness to a potential switch to the London club.
Zola, speaking to Obionepodcast, lauded Osimhen’s qualities, emphasizing his prowess as one of the premier strikers in the current landscape of football.
“I rate him as one of the top strikers around at the moment, for his energy, for his ability to score and also play with the opposition. I’m sure he can be a success in the Premier League as well for sure,” Zola remarked.
While a move in the January transfer window seems unlikely, speculation is rife that Chelsea could pursue Osimhen in the upcoming summer, capitalizing on his admiration for the club and the potential impact he could bring to their attacking lineup.
Zola highlighted Osimhen’s potential to significantly enhance Chelsea’s dynamics, expressing optimism about the positive impact the Nigerian forward could have on the team.
“He will change a lot of things for Chelsea to the positive in my opinion but again as I said I truly believe that it was a right thing to stay again one more year with Napoli.” Zola added.
However, acknowledging Osimhen’s remaining year on his Napoli contract and the absence of a new deal on the horizon, it raises the prospect of Napoli considering a sale at the end of the current season.
As Osimhen’s future remains a focal point of discussions, Chelsea’s pursuit of the talented forward could intensify as they look to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming campaigns.
