Fulham have had the best attacking output in the English Premier League in December, scoring ten goals in their last two games.
Super Eagles attacking midfielder, Alex Iwobi, was toothless in attack today as Eddie Howe’s Newcastle put three past them, Soccernet.ng reports.
Fulham were high on confidence coming to Saint James Park after consecutive 5-0 wins against Nottingham Forest and David Moyes’s West Ham United.
In those games, Iwobi accounted for three goals, scoring two against Taiwo Awoniyi’s Forest and creating one against West Ham.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle have lost their last two Premier League games prior to the tie this evening. An humbling 3-0 loss to Everton and a 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
The game kicked on in familiar fashion with the Magpies crowd cheering their team on, but things quickly got sour for Fulham after Raul Jimenez was shown a red card for a poor aerial tackle on Sean Longstaff.
Teenage sensation, Lewis Miley broke the deadlock in the 57th minute for the host. Bruno Guimaraes did well to defer two tackles and laid the ball to Miley, who tapped home to become the youngest-ever Newcastle goalscorer in the Premier League history.
The second goal came six minutes later after a brilliant through ball from Anthony Gordon found Miguel Almiron and the Paraguayan wasted no time in doubling Newcastle’s lead.
With eight minutes left on the clock, Dan Burn sealed the win. A brilliant outside-of-the boot cross from Bruno Guimaraes was headed home by Burn who celebrated his return from injury in style.
