AFCON 2023: Nigeria’s ticket sales skyrocket, securing top five spot alongside Ivory Coast, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau

Nigerians are eager to witness the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations live in Ivory Coast if data released by the Confederation of African Football, CAF is anything to go by, Soccernet.ng reports.

CAF, on Thursday, disclosed the top five countries that have purchased tickets to watch matches at the AFCON slated to kick off next month.

Ticket sales for Nigeria are among the top five on the continent, says CAF.

As unveiled on CAF's official X.com account (formerly Twitter), Nigeria clinched the fourth spot in ticket purchases, amassing a substantial 12,544 tickets.

The host nation, Ivory Coast, leads the pack with a formidable 32,307 tickets sold, closely followed by Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea in second and third places, respectively.

Defending champions Senegal, home to the Teranga Lions, round off the top five.

CAF's data unequivocally underscores the genuine demand for tickets in anticipation of the continental football extravaganza.

Nigerian Super Eagles enthusiasts aspire to converge in Ivory Coast to support their team in the pursuit of victory.

Top Five Ticket-Selling Nations:

  • Cote d’Ivoire (32,307)
  • Guinea-Bissau (28,614)
  • Equatorial Guinea (16,237)
  • Nigeria (12,544)
  • Senegal (10,959)

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, three-time Africa Cup of Nations winners, are seeking to end a decade-long AFCON title drought at the 2023 edition hosted by Cote d'Ivoire.

The continental football spectacle is scheduled to commence early next month, with eager anticipation building among football enthusiasts.
