Michael Owen was known for his goal scoring abilities at his prime, donning the colours of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United and a host of others
Former Manchester United star, Michael Owen, has applauded the goal scored by Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, during Nottingham Forest’s clash against Aston Villa, Soccernet.ng reports.
Aina played a pivotal role for Steve Cooper’s team as they secured all three points in their English Premier League showdown against the Villains.
Aina, the previous Player of the Month for Nottingham Forest, took the spotlight by opening the scoring for the Reds.
With precision, he executed a swift sidefoot finish, neatly placing the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
Former Crystal Palace star Clinton Morrison had praised Aina’s performance earlier, and now former England international Owen has also joined in to commend the Nigerian fullback for his goal.
“The goal was a very good finish from Ola Aina. You’d expect a ball like that to be hit with the laces from 25 yards out, but it’s actually a very controlled finish hit with the instep. It’s a side-foot finish, and I’m a big advocate of that; I think people go for power far too much. It’s a really good finish,” Owen remarked, as quoted by the Premier League official website.
Fans hold high expectations for the Nigerian star, who is anticipated to provide a significant boost to Jose Peseiro’s Super Eagles squad in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
In the coming weeks, the Nottingham Forest defender will be aiming to continue delivering impressive performances at the national level.
