The Nigerian international has been a key member of the Blue-Black since joining from RB Leipzig last year
Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has pointed out the on-field position that gets the best out of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, Soccernet.ng reports.
A versatile forward who can slot into every role in attack, Lookman was the joker in the pack of Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini last season.
The Italian boss deployed the former Leicester City forward in different roles and managed to squeeze out an impressive 15 goals and eight assists from the Nigerian.
Gasperini has continued with his tinkering this season, with Lookman already used as a winger, a centre-forward, a supporting striker, and an attacking midfielder.
Still, the 26-year-old has remained efficient, notching three goals and two assists in 11 Serie A appearances.
Nigerian national team boss Peseiro is pleased with Lookman’s output and has tipped him to deliver the goods better than in his maiden season in Italy.
However, the former Sporting Lisbon manager believes that Lookman would perform best as a supporting striker.
“Lookman is in a great moment,” Peseiro told Sportitalia, as per Fanta Calcio.
“I hope he maintains that until the end to be able to do even better than last season, which was of a great level.
“He plays well both as a striker and as a second striker, but I think he can better express his skills as a second striker.”
Interestingly, Peseiro often deploys Lookman as a left winger for the Super Eagles.
