Super Eagles of Nigeria are slated to tackle Lesotho in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualification tie
Lesotho’s national football team head coach, Leslie Notsi, is preparing to make some significant changes to his squad as the crocodiles tackle Nigeria in the coming days, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Southern Africans have been seeded in the same group with the Super Eagles of Nigeria and will have their first 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in Nigeria.
The Crocodiles will face Jose Peseiro’s troops at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on November 16, followed by a home fixture against Benin Republic five days later.
To bolster the team’s chances, Notsi has announced that there will be exciting new additions to the final squad, including players who haven’t represented Likuena, as the national team is known, in the last two years.
A statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Lesotho Football Federation confirmed this development.
“Exciting additions to the final squad will be revealed in the next few days, including players that have not featured for Likuena in the last two years.” reads the statement.
Lesotho is considered one of the lower-ranked teams in African football, but they are determined to make their mark on the road to the FIFA World Cup.
In addition to Nigeria, they will also face challenges from Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Benin Republic in the World Cup qualifiers.
With fresh additions to the squad, Lesotho aims to put up a spirited performance in their quest for World Cup qualification.
