Victor Boniface: Exploring the other side of Bayer Leverkusen’s gentle hitman

Boniface just arrived at Bayer Leverkusen this summer, and he has made a big impact at the club

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has been a revelation for Bayer Leverkusen since his €20.5million transfer from Royale Union SG, Soccernet reports.

The 22-year-old has been an instant impact in Germany with eight goals and three assists in eight appearances. He has become an important member of Xabi Alonso’s setup and has formed a great partnership with his teammates.

But amidst his power play, super dribbling, and eye for the goal, Boniface has maintained a calm demeanour. The 22-year-old striker always has a calm disposition in public and hardly says much in interviews.

However, despite his looks and what he shows in public, Boniface’s social media shows a totally different personality. The innocent-faced marksman has become very popular recently with his hilarious posts and captions.

Unlike Napoli starboy Victor Osimhen, who used to post memes from different sources, Boniface uses his own pictures, dribbles, and other game situations as his own memes.

Aside from the proof of his youthful exuberance, most of his posts show that he is very much in touch with the Nigerian environment- the “cruise” mentality. They are always in pidgin-english, and he always uses interesting captions. However, some of his posts may be overboard.

Whilst this post may have a meaning when you look at the video, in the Nigerian setting, this tweet may have an undertone.

Obviously, his engagements have grown astronomically since he moved to Bayer Leverkusen because of his posts. However, it could affect him adversely. Boniface has had to edit some of the words in his tweets because of the reactions of his followers.

He has to be careful with the words he uses to avoid serious backlash. Boniface is still trying to make a name for himself, so he has to be careful about the image he puts in public.
