Former Chelsea star, John Obi Mikel, has revealed his favourite among former Liverpool teammates, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations draws in Abidjan, Soccernet.ng reports.
While Salah was busy preparing for Egypt’s international friendly against Zambia, in which they secured a 1-0 victory, with Hamdy Fathy scoring the winner, Mikel was joined by Mane for the AFCON draw event.
Mane has been busy in the transfer window over the last one year, moving to join Bayern Munich from Liverpool and making a transfer move from Bayern Munich to Al Nassr after a single season in Germany.
Not to forget that while Mane was with the Reds, he and Salah were formidable forwards who posed threats to domestic and international opponents.
Meanwhile, this extends to their country’s performance and earned Salah the African Footballer of The Year in 2017 and 2018, while Mane picked his in 2019 and 2022 after steering Senegal to their first Africa Cup of Nations title.
During the 2023 AFCON draw, Mikel participated in a brief ‘this or that’ question-and-answer session captured on social media.
When asked to choose between Salah and Mane, the former Chelsea star stated that his preference was for the Egyptian king, Mo Salah. He said, “Of course, you need to go with the Egyptian king, Mo Salah.”
