Remo Stars came close to winning the Nigeria Professional Football League last term but narrowly missed out to eventual winners, Enyimba.
Remo-Stars central defender, Olalere Oluwasegun, has completed a transfer to Danish second-division club Aarhus Fremad after a successful three-week trial, Soccernet.ng reports.
At 23 years old, Olalere is making history as the first Nigerian to join Aarhus Fremad. However, he is not the only Nigerian associated with the club.
Earlier this year, 38-year-old Nigerian business mogul Shola Akinlade acquired a 55% stake in the club, becoming the major shareholder with the aim of transforming the club’s fortunes.
Olalere was a regular feature for Remo Stars last season, contributing to what appeared to be the club’s most successful season since its inception.
Known for his versatility in both left-back and central defence positions, the young Nigerian’s arrival adds strength to Aarhus’s squad as they seek to secure promotion.
Meanwhile, his new club made the announcement of Olalere’s signing on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, which officially makes him the first Nigerian to sign for the club since Akinlade’s acquisition.

The player, elated with joy, described his delight in signing for the club in Denmark, additionally stating that he wants to make history with the club.
“I’m so proud to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started and to make history together! Thank you for welcoming me to your city, see you soon,“ he posted on his X page.
Olalere trained with the club’s U-23 side for the past three weeks before he was eventually fit enough to join the senior team.
