The Manchester United star piqued the interest of the Old Trafford in 2014 after his impressive performance with Southampton
Manchester United defender, Luke Shaw, has named Nigerian star Victor Moses as one of the toughest players he’s faced in his football career, Soccernet.ng reports.
After two impressive years at Wigan Athletic, the Nigerian forward caught Chelsea’s attention, leading to his move to Stamford Bridge in 2012.
Shaw recalled his encounters with Moses during his time at Southampton, where he found the Nigerian winger a challenging opponent. Shaw joined Manchester United in 2014 and has since shared the field with some of the world’s greatest players, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
In a resurfaced 2020 interview with the United Website, as quoted by Talk Sports Shaw praised Moses for his quickness and strength on the ball, highlighting their clashes when he was a 17-year-old at Southampton.
“People always think I’m joking, but one of my hardest games ever was against Moses when I was coming in as a 17-year-old at Southampton,” Shaw admitted. “Maybe because I was so young. He was really quick, direct, strong, and that was a challenge for me.”
Shaw emphasized that he had faced top-notch players like Gareth Bale, Lionel Messi, and Eden Hazard, but he always remembered Moses as a formidable opponent.
Since leaving Chelsea, Moses has had loan spells at Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham United, Fenerbahçe, and Inter Milan before permanently joining Spartak Moscow in the Russian League.
