Israel and Palestine have been at loggerheads in recent days, and that has caused the death of many in the country
Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has released a video confirming that he is alive and well despite the conflict between Israel and Palestine, which has caused the death of over 2,000 people, Soccernet reports.
Israel and Palestine have always been at loggerheads, but the conflict got a new twist five days ago after Hamas’ attack on Saturday.
Since then, Israel and Gaza have become a war front. And in the latest report by Al Jazeera, at least 2,100 are dead from both ends.
There are some Nigerian players in Isreal like Super Eagles midfielder Ogu, who currently plies his trade in Maccabi Jaffa and Adebayo Adeleye, who was named in the 25-man squad for Nigeria’s friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
There have been concerns raised about the safety of these players amidst the conflict in Israel. However, Ogu, who has 26 caps for the Super Eagles, has released a video stating that he is hale and hearty.
“So here I am. To everyone checking up on me, thank you very much. I really appreciate you guys, I appreciate your messages, I am safe. Just pray for Israel; it means a lot,” Ogu said.
The 35-year-old has spent most of his career in Israel. This season, he has made six appearances for his club.
