Frank Onyeka complains of racist abuses after helping Brentford defeat Chelsea

The Super Eagles midfielder had a very good performance for the Bees, and he was on the good side after 90 minutes

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka shared a picture of a racist insult he got on his social media page after helping Brentford claim a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Soccernet reports.

The Bees stung Chelsea when both teams met in the Premier League on Sunday. The Blues were favourites following their nice run of form in recent weeks, but they were overpowered by a disciplined and resolute Brentford side. Goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbuemo sealed the victory for the Bees.

Nigerian midfielder Onyeka did not start, but he got off the bench in the 63rd minute as coach Thomas Frank was looking to add some stealth to his midfield. The former Midtjylland man did his job well chasing down every ball and helping out the defence with three clearances.

However, in a related development, Onyeka shared a racist message he got on his social media page after the game.

A fan, who was annoyed by his contribution to Brentford’s win, called him a ‘monkey wanker’, a common derogatory phrase used on black men.

Following his post, Brentford have come out to defend their star, stating that they have commenced investigations.

“Frank has our full support at this time as we instigate our investigations with the authorities.”

The Premier League have also condemned the action, reiterating that they have no place for racism.

However, Chelsea are yet to release a statement on the issue.
