Akor Adams returns Montpellier to winning ways with superb performance against Toulouse

The Nigerian striker just joined Ligue 1 this season, and he is making a name for himself

Nigerian striker Akor Adams scored a brace for Montpellier to help them secure a comfortable 3-0 victory over Toulouse at the Stade de la Mosson, Soccernet reports.

Montpellier returned to Ligue 1 action with a home game against Toulouse. Adams, who just joined this club this summer, was in the starting lineup for his side.

Last time out, La Paillade suffered a 2-0 loss at Nantes. So they had to fashion out a win in their stadium.

Montpellier started the game well, and they needed just 13 minutes to take the lead. Adams received a pass from Teji Savanier and struck a superb volley fr8m the left corner of the box. They took that lead into the break despite bossing the play for most of the first half.

La Paillade started the second half well, with a chance falling to Akor early on. However, his strike was saved.

Eventually, Montpellier scored another goal in the 63rd minute courtesy of Khalil Fayad. Then, Adams added the third in the. He went on a quick counter after Toulouse lost the ball in Montpellier’s half. The 23-year-old showed great composure to send a precise finish into the net and seal the 3-0 win for his side.

La Paillade now sit 11th in Ligue 1 with 11 points.
