Dessers has been thrown under the bus for his lack of goals in the Premiership, but he has finally gotten the monkeys off his back
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers scored the the only goal of the game in Rangers 1-0 win over Motherwell at Ibrox Stadium, Soccernet reports.
Dessers joined Rangers in the summer after a failed stint at Cremonese, who got relegated from the Serie A last season.
However, he has had an tough start to life. The 28-year-old striker only managed two goals in ten appearances for the Gers, and the fans were beginning to get impatient.
Nonetheless, Michael Beale gave him a start when they welcomed Motherwell to Ibrox Stadium.
Rangers were favourites to win, and they dominated the game from the blast of the whistle. Eventually, they broke the deadlock in the 24th minute.
The Gers went on an attack, pouring numbers forward. Dessers helped with the build-up and went to position himself in the box. Then, Rabbi Matondo struck a wicked shot, but Dessers just got a touch to it to deflect the ball into the net for his first Premiership goal.
That was all that was needed as Rangers ran out 1-0 winners. Dessers saw 67 minutes of action, and was replaced by Ryan Jack.
The Super Eagles star would look to build on his goal.
