“We’re not scared of Osimhen” – Union Berlin Sporting Director sends message to Napoli

Union Berlin’s Technical Director has applauded Victor Osimhen for his Napoli exploits but mentions his side are not scared of him.

Union Berlin’s Technical Director, Michael Parensen, has hyped up the Group C tie, where the German club will face the Italian Giants, Soccernet.ng reports.

Union’s story has been nothing short of remarkable, from fans helping out to freely reconstruct their stadium to the German top-flight, to the UEFA Europa League and for the first time in the club’s history, the UEFA Champions League, and they’ve been drawn in Group C of the UEFA Champions League.

The group contains fourteen-time UEFA Champions League winners – Real Madrid, Scudetto winners – Napoli, Portuguese side – SC Braga, and Taiwo Awoniyi’s former side, Union Berlin.

The draw took place in Switzerland, and with the odds against Union, they are poised to be the dark horses in the group, and could well write a thrilling story, should they qualify.

Union’s Technical director, Michael Parensen also made sure the fixture against Victor Osimhen’s Napoli will be one to watch, by openly claiming that his team isn’t scared of the Nigerian with a century of goals.

Speaking to Omasports.com, the thirty-seven-year-old technical director was quizzed on whether he’s aware of the potent threat Osimhen possesses, and if he is scared of the Nigerian. He said with a smile;

“Not scared. I think, of course, he’s a very good player who has scored a lot of goals and we’re not scared of him. We will try to do our best to stop him.”

The technical director added that stopping the Serie A Golden Boot winner would not be an easy task.

“To stop him will be hard. We know this, but we will try.”

The 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League kicks off on the 19th of September, and Group C contains fixtures that are highly anticipated for the neutrals, as Osimhen visits the Santiago Bernabeu.
