Everything Chidera Ejuke said about Akor Adams on Sevilla debut

Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke has expressed elation at Akor Adams getting his Sevilla debut in their goalless draw at Getafe Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Adams joined Los Nervionenses from Ligue 1 club Montpellier last week in a deal worth €5.5 million. And he was thrown right into the thick of the action.

Adams joined training immediately and he was part of the matchday squad for their La Liga game against Getafe at the Coliseum. Adams started from the bench, but he was introduced into the game in the 81st minute, when Sevilla were desperately in need of a goal.

Adams failed to score in his 18 minutes of action, but his compatriot Ejuke was happy that he got his first set of minutes in Seville.

“I’m happy for him (Adams), it was an important day and he must continue to grow,” Ejuke said, per OB.

Following that result, Sevilla now have 28 points from 22 games as they sit 11th in La Liga pending when Osasuna and Celta Vigo play.

Adams was brought in to solve Sevilla’s attacking problems. Isaac Romero has failed to deliver consistently, as he has produced two goals and two assists in 18 games.

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who arrived on a free transfer last summer has failed to score in nine games, albeit most of his appearances have been from the bench.

If Adams breaks the duck soon, he could just displace Romero and become coach Garcia Pimienta’s first-choice striker at Sevilla.
