“We are glad we have him”- Ex-Arsenal midfielder praises freescoring Boniface

Boniface has been spectacular for Bayer Leverkusen since he joined this summer, and he has gotten a lot of praise for his performances

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka has extolled Victor Boniface’s qualities following his remarkable performances since he joined the club this summer, Soccernet reports.

Boniface joined Die Werkself from Royale Union SG this summer in a deal worth €20million. And since he arrived, he has been remarkable.

The 22-year-old hitman has registered four goals and two assists in four competitive games for Bayer Leverkusen, and he currently sits second on the Bundesliga goalscorers’ charts.

Boniface has adjusted properly to Bundesliga football, and even coach Xabi Alonso has been impressed.

The 22-year-old has also merited praise from his teammates, as former Arsenal midfielder Xhaka, who just joined Bayer Leverkusen, has been impressed by his brilliance.

“Boniface is a down-to-earth boy who is hungry for goals and successes,” Xhaka told Bild Sports.

“It’s only good for the team if you have someone up front who wants to score goals and celebrate success.

“That’s how you get better, how you make the team better, how you make yourself better. We’re glad we have someone like that with us.”

Boniface’s performances have earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers fixture against Sao Tome and Principe on the 14th of September.
