Asisat Oshoala has been outstanding on and off the pitch, being nominated for the Ballon d’Or for the second time in her football career
Super Falcons and Barcelona Femeni forward, Asisat Oshoala, has earned a nomination for the prestigious 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or, Soccernet.ng reports.
Oshoala, renowned for her outstanding contributions to the Super Falcons and her exceptional performances with Barcelona, continues to receive well-deserved recognition.
She had previously secured a nomination for the 2023 Socrates Award, and her excellence has now placed her among the esteemed nominees for the Women’s Ballon d’Or.
The former Arsenal star will be in contention with formidable opponents such as Linda Caicedo, Lioness’s Rachel Daly, Alba Redondo, Mary Earps, and a host of other exceptional talents vying for the illustrious award.

The former Liverpool star was the top scorer for the 2021-22 season campaign, notching 20 goals and providing four assists for her team in 19 Spanish Liga F appearances.
In the 2022-23 season campaign, she continued from where she left off by tallying 21 goals and three assists in 28 domestic League appearances and five goals in all her nine Women’s Champions League appearances.
The Nigerian also took her outstanding performance to the Women’s World Cup, and despite being faced with low match fitness, she was able to score a goal against the Australian Matildas to secure the victory for Randy Waldrum’s troops.
She will, therefore, be looking to scoop the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or, having been nominated among other football stars who have been outstanding in their different leagues and countries.
