Ola Aina has played in all of Nottingham Forest’s three Premier League matches this season after a summer move from Italian side, Torino.
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has revealed a bizarre encounter he and his teammates had with fans during a patchy period in his time at Italian side Torino, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigeria International recently joined Nottingham Forest this summer on a free transfer from Torino. He has seamlessly settled well, playing as a left-wing back in three games he has played so far.
Aina came up through the ranks at Chelsea but managed just a handful of top-flight appearances, with loan spells at Hull City and Torino during his time at Stamford Bridge. He moved to the latter permanently in 2019 and racked up a total of more than 100 appearances for the club.
During his stay in all his previous clubs, the 26-year-old has had highs and lows, showing his professionalism and commitment to come through both the bad and the good times to reach this stage in his football journey.
However, the Nigerian defender has revealed an unusual encounter during his time at Torino when they were confronted by angry fans in the middle of the night when the team was going through a sticky patch.
All of that. Everything you name it, I’ll tell you about it! There were a couple of occasions where we had some low periods, not playing well, and the fans really let us know, The 26-year-old said, as reported by Nottingham Post
I’ll give you an example. We came back from an away game. I can’t remember who it was, but we lost and returned back on the bus. There were just thousands of fans outside the training ground. We came back late, it was 2am in the morning, and there were fans there. Obviously they demanded to speak to the captain. That’s what happens.
Andrea Belotti was the captain at the time and managed to speak to them. It’s just how it is. They’re very vocal out there.
The former Chelsea defender will aim to maintain his impressive form throughout the campaign for Steve Cooper’s side, who are expected to be in another relegation fight this season.
Aina was in the starting line-up to help Nigeria claim a 6-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.
