Awoniyi had another good game for the Tricky Trees, but his performance was not enough to get him the win
Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi registered an assist for Nottingham Forest in their 1-1 draw against Burnley at City Ground, Soccernet reports.
Awoniyi has started the season in outstanding fashion. He scored in his first three games of the season and registered an assist in his fourth game against Chelsea.
After a successful international break with Nigeria, Awoniyi led the line for the Tricky Trees when they took on Burnley. Nottingham Forest were the favourites to get the win because Burnley had lost their opening three Premier League games.
However, they were shocked in the first half, as Zeki Amdouni gave Burnley the lead in the 41st minute.
Forest got more chances but failed to put them away. In the second half, they improved slightly, and they got their goal as Callum Hudson-Odoi found the net off an Awoniyi assist in the 61st minute.
Nottingham Forest tried hard to get into the lead, but Burnley matched everything they brought to the table. Awoniyi did not get much joy upfront, as he registered just one goal attempt.
The Super Eagles star was taken off for Chris Wood in the 88th minute. However, none of the sides could score, as it ended 1-1 at City Ground.
