Napoli set to reward Super Eagles’ Osimhen with new contract salary increment

Victor Osimhen has been recognized among the 30 nominees for the 2023 Ballon d’Or Award following his title-winning achievement with Napoli last term

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is expected to sign a new deal with Napoli in the coming weeks and the new salary in the contract has been revealed, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old has been one of the most coveted strikers in world football in recent weeks after a breakthrough season with Napoli that saw him help the club win their first Serie A title in 33 years.

He scored a career-high 31 goals in all competitions last campaign, achieving the feat of being the first African player to win the Italian championship top scorer award with 26 goals.

After a remarkable season, it was not surprising to see him linked with the biggest teams in Europe like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain, but none of these clubs was able to strike a deal with Napoli before the end of the window.

The former Lille striker also got offers from the Middle East with Saudi giants Al Hilal reported to have had two bids rejected by Napoli in the summer window.

Osimhen has since made a good start to the season with 3 Serie A goals, and reports suggest he is open to an extension that will keep him at Naples beyond his current contract which expires in 2025.

It has been reported that the Neapolitan president Aurelio De Laurentiis’ idea is to renew the Nigerian striker’s contract with a substantial salary increase.

The offer that Napoli is proposing to Osimhen is a contract with a salary of 12 million euros per year, plus the concession of image rights, as revealed by Corriere della Sera, via ilmionapoli.it

However, the Nigerian is still taking time to make the best decision for his future and a move from Naples in January can not be ruled out.

The 24-year-old will be hoping to end a remarkable year with the 2023 African Player of the Year award, having also recently been nominated for the Ballon d’Or Award and the Best FIFA Men’s Player award.
