“My idol” – Pellegatti claims Milan are interested in Nigeria’s third-best scorer in Ligue 1 history

The Nigerian international has been a revelation since moving to France and it is becoming clearer that he has admirers in Italy

In their pursuit of a future centerpiece for their forward line, AC Milan appear to have their sights set on OGC Nice sensation, Terem Moffi, according to club insider Carlo Pellegatti, Soccernet.ng reports.

Despite an active summer transfer window that saw the Rossoneri secure signings like Samuel Chukwueze, Christian Pulisic, Noah Okafor, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Milan remain on the hunt for a long-term successor to Frenchman Olivier Giroud.

The club had expressed interest in Medhi Taremi throughout the summer, even reaching terms with Porto, but failed to finalise a deal for the Iranian international before the transfer window slammed shut.

Recent speculation has also linked Milan with Lille’s Jonathan David. La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan had evaluated David’s potential during June and July when his price tag hovered around €60 million. However, their late loan bid was rejected.

Speaking on Radio Rossonera, Pellegatti weighed in on Milan’s transfer activities. He touched on the rumours surrounding Jonathan David but also revealed insider knowledge of the club’s pursuit of Terem Moffi.

“I know that Milan will follow and is already following, trust me, my idol Terem Moffi. 1.88m tall, costs €25 million, and Nice is open for discussions.

“There, I can guarantee they are keeping a close eye on him, and perhaps they will make a move. I’m confident because I know it. I’ve read about David, but I’d be more convinced if they confirmed it to me.”

Moffi, 24, has an impressive record in France where he has ten goals and four assists in 24 appearances for Nice, following his previous tally of 35 goals in 90 games for FC Lorient.

With 41 Ligue 1 goals, he is the third-highest scoring Nigerian in the history of the French top flight, behind John Utaka (59 goals) and Victor Ikpeba (55).
