Super Eagles and Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker, rues missed chances after drawing blank against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, has lamented after missing chances that could have sealed all three points for his side at the Allianz Arena yesterday, Soccernet.ng reports.
In an entertaining and end-to-end game at Bayern’s home, the game ended in a two-all draw. Harry Kane opened the scoring in the seventh minute, scoring a header and slotting it home past Lucas Hradecky.
Die Werkself equalized with a stellar free-kick from left-wing back, Alex Grimaldo, as Xabi Alonso’s side looked to turn the odds in their favour. Lukas Hradecky put in a terrific performance, denying Harry Kane a second goal, nothing less than two times to ensure the scores remained level.
Captain on the night, Leon Goretzka, scored the second for The Bavarians with five minutes to go after some brilliant work on the edge of the box by teenage Mathys Tel. The eighteen-year-old dribbled past Jeremie Frimpong, before squaring the ball for Goretzka to score the supposed winner.
An extra-time foul in the box by Alphonso Davies on Exequiel Palacios led referee Daniel Schlager to the VAR screen, and he pointed to the spot, Exequiel Palacios wasted no time in sending the ball into the back of the net to equalize the game.
In the course of the game, Victor Boniface had chances where he could have scored, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Speaking to Sky.de, Boniface said;
“It was just a day, the ball didn’t want to go in. That’s football, sometimes you just don’t meet. After the game, I couldn’t even listen to the coach what said to us because I thought I had to score one or two goals.”
A draw against the record champions turned out to be an even result, but Leverkusen remain top of the Bundesliga, with four wins in five games.
