Osimhen’s camp and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis have been at odds over a contract extension that would make him the highest-paid player on the Napoli roster
Super Eagles attacker, Victor Osimhen, is closer to cementing his status as a key figure at the club by signing a record-breaking contract extension, Soccernet.ng reports.
Negotiations between Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis have been ongoing for several weeks, with both parties eager to solidify a new agreement following his performance in the Gli Azzurri’s triumphant Scudetto victory last season.
After intense deliberations and careful consideration, Osimhen and Napoli have come to a mutual understanding, paving the way for the 24-year-old striker to enter the upcoming season with full focus.
According to Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, only Osimhen’s signature stands between him and a new contract that would make him the highest-paid player in Napoli’s history.
The esteemed transfer market expert has also unveiled the details of Osimhen’s impending contract, shedding light on the remarkable financial terms.
Under the terms of the agreement, Osimhen is set to earn an impressive net salary exceeding €10 million per season.
However, this lucrative deal will extend Osimhen’s stay at the Diego Maradona Stadium until June 2026, which would make the Neapolitans enjoy his stay for three more years.
Notably, Osimhen’s new contract will also feature a singular release clause valued at a staggering €150 million. However, this release clause is expected to be inactive within Italy during its inaugural year, a strategic move designed to fortify Napoli’s position and thwart any potential immediate moves from rival Italian clubs.
This means that AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan and a host of other Italian clubs will not be able to sign the Nigerian attacker for a full year.
The impending contract extension is a win-win scenario for all parties involved, according to the report. President De Laurentiis secures Osimhen’s services for at least another season, guaranteeing the team a substantial transfer fee should a prominent European club express interest next summer.
For Osimhen himself, the new deal would earn him a substantial salary increase and provides a clear path for a future transfer when the time is right.
