Despite her fitness struggles, Asisat Oshoala has presented a threat to numerous teams, including Canada, Ireland, and Australia, in the 2023 Women’s World Cup
Former Chelsea and Arsenal star Karen Carney believes reveals that Super Falcons fear no team, and that Asisat Oshoala, could pose a significant threat to England’s defence, Soccernet.ng reports.
Randy Waldrum’s troops are scheduled to tackle England in the last-16 of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the familiar Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Ahead of the tie, Carney showered encomium on the Super Falcons and praised Oshoala’s abilities and highlighted her track record of causing trouble for top teams such as Canada, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.
In an interview, Carney expressed her respect for Oshoala’s skills, stating, “She is a top-quality striker who is more than capable of pulling something out of the bag. I expect Nigeria will have big expectations and big hopes, so we can’t rest on our laurels.”
Although England showcased their quality against China, Carney emphasized that Nigeria is a formidable opponent with world-class talent that can create difficulties for any team.
She described Nigeria as fighters who fear no one, indicating that the Super Falcons will be a formidable challenge for the Lionesses.
“Despite how good England was against China, Nigeria are a top nation that will cause us problems. It has a world-class striker and individual players that will be difficult for us.
“They are fighters, and they fear no one.” she added
The England squad will need to be on guard against Oshoala’s menace and the combined might of the Nigerian team as the two sides get ready to face off in the Women’s World Cup.
