Napoli won the Serie A in outstanding fashion last season, but Cassano believes they would struggle to match that feat
Former AC Milan forward Antonio Cassano believes Napoli would struggle to match their performance of last season despite Osimhen’s presence.
Napoli were absolutely outstanding last season under the tutelage of Luciano Spalletti. They won 28 and lost just four games in the run up to their Scudetto win last season.
They were also impressive in the Champions League, reaching the quarterfinals of the competition for the first time in their history.
Osimhen had a big hand in their successes, scoring 31 goals in all competitions to give them the extra push.
However, this summer the Partenopeans have lost some of their best hands. Spalletti left for Sabbatical immediately after the season, but he later accepted the coaching job in the Italian national team. Also, defensive Stalwart Kim Min-Jae has joined German kings Bayern Munich.
The club then appointed Rudi Garcia as their new coach, and they have managed to hold on to important players like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Osimhen and Zambo Anguissa.
Nonetheless, to former AC Milan striker Cassano, Napoli will struggle to reach the high heights that they did last season.
“I wish Rudi Garcia a big good luck, but I also say that repeating what he did Spalletti will be impossible,” Cassano told Napoli Magazine.
“I have a feeling and I’ll say something strong: Napoli will struggle to get into the top four this year. I say it right away despite the presence of Victor Osimhen, an outstanding player who always makes you start games 1-0”.
Napoli already started the season on a high, beating Frosinone 3-1. However, they will not have it so easy this season as their rivals AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus all won their games.
Nonsense article.
