Napoli have been pushing for Osimhen to sign a new deal, but both parties have failed to reach an agreement
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is confident that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will extend his contract despite a big money offer from Al Hilal, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen has been the subject of numerous transfer talks this summer, as he has been linked with some of the big clubs in Europe. Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and PSG have all been linked with the 24-year-old striker, but De Laurentiis has held his ground and refused to sell.
Napoli have been in the process of extending his contract in recent weeks, but both parties have failed to agree on terms. The Serie A champions want to insert a buyout clause around €150million in Osimhen’s contract, but his camp want it reduced to €120million at most.
This has been one of the major issues. Also, Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal have tried to tempt the former Lille man with a bumper deal. They are offering him €50million per year in a three-year contract, but the Nigerian has refused.
Despite the delay in getting Osimhen to extend his current contract, Napoli President De Laurentiis is confident that the deadly goal poacher will eventually put pen to paper.
“Osimhen will stay here. He won’t leave,” De Laurentiis told Sky per Fabrizio Romano.
“He’s under contract until June 2025, where should he go? Contracts should be respected. We have been on the same page with Osimhen since day 1. Don’t be worried.”
According to transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Napoli will increase Osimhen’s wages to €9million annually, and his new contract will expire in 2027.
