Lauren James’ reaction after red card on Alozie revealed by Lucy Bronze and Coach Wiegman

Lauren James, who happened to be the sister of popular Chelsea defender, Reece James, received a red card for her foul on Michelle Alozie

England's young midfielder, Lauren James, has expressed her regret for her red card on Michelle Alozie in a tense last-16 encounter against Nigeria, Soccernet.ng reports.

After the game, England defender Lucy Bronze revealed that her teammate, was deeply distraught upon realizing the potential ramifications of her red card.

The midfielder's dismissal occurred in the 70th minute, a crucial moment that saw her stamping on Alozie, leading to her subsequent exit from the match after her initial yellow card was overturned and replaced with a red card.

This untimely exit meant that the Lionesses had to navigate the remaining 50 minutes of the high-stakes game with only ten players.

The red card, a consequence of an incident involving Nigeria's Michelle Alozie, has cast a cloud of uncertainty over James' further participation in the tournament.

Meanwhile, with a recent reports from Mirror, the England-based player is upset over her uncertainty to feature in the Lionesses’s game for the rest of the campaign, and as well apologized to her teammates

“She is very upset – there is no one going to be more upset than Lauren James.” The 31-year-old Bronze shared.

England's head coach, Sarina Wiegman, who engaged in a heart-to-heart conversation with James right after the tense encounter also reveale

Wiegman acknowledged that the young star had momentarily lost control of her emotions, yet refrained from speculating on the potential length of any ban.

“I have not experienced so many problems before. The red card was a moment of a split second and it was late in the game and it was an inexperienced player.

“You are talking about a split second and she lost her emotions. She did not want to hurt anybody, she is the sweetest person that I know. It is a huge lesson but it is something that she did not do on purpose. She apologised and felt really bad.”

Despite the setback, England demonstrated remarkable resilience, prevailing over the Super Falcons in a penalty shootout that secured their place in the coveted quarter-finals.

With their sights now set on the upcoming challenges, the Lionesses are poised to face either Jamaica or Colombia in their next World Cup clash, scheduled for Sunday.
