Confirmed: Super Eagles-eligible striker dumps Granada for Atletico Madrid

The youngster impressed for Granada in their opening game of the season, scoring against Atletico Madrid

Super Eagles-eligible striker Samuel Omorodion has completed a transfer to Spanish Laliga giants Atletico Madrid, Soccernet reports.

Omorodion made his first team and Laliga debut for Granada in their first game of the season against Atletico Madrid last week. The 19-year-old striker started for Los Nazaries at the Metropolitano, and he put up a very good display.

Omorodion's pace proved to be a big problem for the Atleti defence, and he eventually scored for Granada in the second half after Alvaro Morata put Atletico Madrid in front earlier.

Following his brilliance, Atletico Madrid have swooped in for the youngster. Omorodion has signed a five-year contract with Los Rojiblancos after they triggered his €6million release clause at Granada.

The 19-year-old striker was born in Spain to Nigerian parents, but he currently plays for the Spanish youth teams. However, Omorodion can play for the Super Eagles because he is yet to play for the Spanish senior team.

Omorodion will likely have a peripheral role at Atleti this season because he lacks experience playing top-level football. Nonetheless, he would look to learn from the established strikers at the club, like Memphis Depay and Alvaro Morata.
