Why Bordeaux’s Josh Maja is perfect to replace Terem Moffi at FC Lorient

Super Eagles forward, Josh Maja, has had an impressive season with the Girondins de Bordeaux, but with the expiration of his contract, the London-born striker is currently a free agent.

Soccernet.ng earlier reported that the Nigerian attacker had been linked with a move to several clubs like Rangers FC, and some English Premier League clubs in the past, but a recent report from 90 min could foresee him replacing his countryman Terem Moffi who left FC Lorient to OGC Nice.

Nonetheless, the former Fulham forward fits a promising option to fill the void left by Moffi at FC Lorient. The former Manchester City youth player has showcased his ability to perform consistently and make an impact in various leagues, including Ligue 2, the Premier League, and the Championship.

With a track record of 16 goals and 6 assists in the previous season, Maja has proven his goal-scoring prowess and ability to contribute to the team’s attacking play.

One of Maja’s notable strengths is his versatility in playing as a lone striker or in partnership with another forward. This adaptability allows him to fit seamlessly into different tactical systems, providing Lorient with options in their offensive approach.

Moreover, Maja’s technical skills and ability to combine effectively with attacking teammates make him a valuable asset in tight spaces, which is crucial for breaking down stubborn defences.

Considering the current struggles of Bamba Dieng and Ibrahima Koné to consistently perform on the offensive front, bringing in a player of Maja’s calibre could inject much-needed quality and competition.

Maja’s goal-scoring ability, demonstrated by his impressive conversion rate compared to expected goals, shows his efficiency and effectiveness in front of goal.

While it is important to acknowledge that every player is unique and may bring different qualities to the team, Maja’s profile aligns well with the requirements of FC Lorient.

His track record, technical ability, and adaptability make him a strong candidate to potentially replicate or even surpass the impact that Moffi had during his time at the club.

The addition of Maja could provide the necessary boost to Lorient’s attacking options and help them maintain their competitive edge in the upcoming season.
