WATCH: Napoli fans treat Osimhen to rousing welcome

Osimhen had a successful campaign with Napoli last season, and he has become a fans’ favourite

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen returned to training with Napoli on Tuesday, and was treated to a rousing welcome by the fans, Soccernet reports.

The 24-year-old striker has built a legacy in Naples over the last three years. He helped the club win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years. Osimhen scored 26 goals in the league to cart home the Capocannoniere.

The former Lille man also registered five goals in the UEFA Champions League to help the club reach their first-ever quarterfinal finish.

Osimhen has been on break since the end of last season, and he just returned to Napoli’s Carciato field in Dimaro Folgarida for pre-season. The Nigerian attacker was treated to a touching welcome by the fans.

The Italian champions have lined up friendlies against SPAL, Frosinone, and Anaune Val di Non this summer, and Osimhen would be expected to be part of it.

Napoli are looking to rebuild this season after they lost some important members of their team. Rudi Garcia just took over as coach after Luciano Spalletti left the job. Defender Kim Min-Jae has also departed for Bayern Munich.

There has been talk that Osimhen could leave Naples this summer, but it would he difficult for that the happen as Napoli want to tie him down to a new deal.

However, if the Partenopeans receive a big offer, they could let him leave.
