The former Turkish champions have been linked with Aribo in recent weeks, and they may be looking to wrap up the deal soon
Besiktas Sports director Ceyhun Kazanci has travelled to England to meet with Southampton over the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo, Soccernet reports.
Aribo just joined Southampton from Rangers last summer. However, the transfer did not go well, as the Saints had an abysmal campaign that saw them finish bottom of the Premier League.
Aribo who joined the club with a big reputation from former Premiership champions Rangers failed to make an impact. He made 21 Premier League appearances for Southampton and registered two goals. But unfortunately, he was reduced to a peripheral figure towards the end of the season when coach Ruben Selles took over.
Following Southampton’s relegation, there have been talks that Aribo would leave the club. Besiktas have been in the mix, as the Super Lig giants are looking to add some firepower to their midfield.
According to Saints Extra, Besiktas’ Sports director Kazanci would be at Southampton to broker a deal for Aribo.
The Super Eagles midfielder is worth €11million per Transfermarket, but Besiktas have never spent more than €8million on a player. As such, they may push for a loan deal.
