Record-breaking Super Eagles star returns to Real Sociedad after devastating injury

Real Sociedad’s Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq has expressed his determination to give his best and return to peak form as he begins his preseason training, Soccernet.ng reports.

After a long absence due to a severe injury, Sadiq rejoined the team yesterday at Anoeta, working alongside the rehabilitator Iñigo Almandoz.

Sadiq engaged in physical exercises and had ball contact during the session. However, the specific timeline for his full recovery and readiness for competitive play remains uncertain.

Recalling his arrival at Real Sociedad in August 2022, Sadiq made an impressive start, scoring two goals in his first three games before suffering a serious injury in the subsequent match against Atletico Madrid.

This unfortunate event sidelined him for the entire season, and he only returned to training in May after an extended recovery period.

Now, as he embarks on the preseason, Sadiq aims to regain his form and contribute to the team’s success.

In an interview published by Real Sociedad, Sadiq expressed his excitement about rejoining the first-team dynamics after a brief vacation.

Despite his challenges, he revealed that he ended the previous season positively and received a warm welcome from his teammates.

Sadiq emphasized his readiness to give his all during the preseason, stating that he is in good physical shape and eager to reach full speed ahead of the upcoming games.

Acknowledging the difficulties he encountered throughout the year, the Nigerian striker mentioned the growth he experienced both as a footballer and mentally.

Grateful for the support of his teammates, Sadiq affirmed his commitment to delivering his best performance, emphasizing that Real Sociedad deserves nothing less.

Looking ahead, the upcoming weeks will be crucial for Sadiq as he aims to prepare himself thoroughly for the start of the season.

On July 3rd, he will be joined by several young players who will undergo an adaptation period alongside him. Sadiq views the preseason as an opportunity to regain his rhythm and intends to make a swift return to the pitch.

As Sadiq Umar resumes training with Real Sociedad, the club’s most expensive signing in history is determined to overcome the obstacles he faced and contribute significantly to the team’s success in the upcoming season.
